Definitely correct Will. Most commercial carwashes do recycle the wash water. This tip about washing your car at a carwash in the winter to save wastewater charges throughout the year should actually be used the whole year round anyway since carwashes will probably use less water than you would if you washed your car in your driveway.

The intent of these tricks is to “spin your own water meter” less during the wastewater averaging period so that you can reap the benefits of cheaper monthly wastewater bills throughout the year. You are correct in saying that, overall, you may use more water but again hopefully you will use less water during the winter months at your house.

Well some of these tips may be difficult to keep up the entire year. Some of these tips are intended to game the system since cities don’t have a better way to meter your wastewater. At least it keeps people thinking about water conservation though.
