We are a licensed engineering firm in Texas that provides design and consulting services for drainage and stormwater management issues on residential and commercial projects.  We have experience with a wide variety of drainage solutions in the central Texas region.

The design of drainage solutions requires a knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, soil science, watershed and drainage basin analysis, and the effects of impervious cover.  Being a licensed engineering firm, we have developed the unique knowledge for the implementation of drainage solutions in the central Texas area.

Who uses this service?

  • Homeowners who would like a documented system plan for either your use or to provide to other contractors to solicit bids (great option if you are not located in central Texas where IWS can design AND install the drainage solutions for you).
  • Homeowners who are building a new house and want to ensure the proper drainage principles and systems are implemented into your property.
  • Architects who are working on an existing site and have concerns about the potential drainage issues.
  • Home builders who have concerns about potential drainage issues on the property where you are building.

Benefits of using a licensed design professional

1. Design Liability (who is responsible for system design failures if you use a non-licensed design professional?)
2. Opportunity to determine any obstacles prior to construction
3. System optimization according to the desired water conservation goals
4. Creation of realistic budget for the designed system (why put time and effort into designing a system just to have it VE’ed out of the project because a realistic system budget wasn’t created?)

How our process works

Contact & Consultation

After contacting us, we will schedule an onsite consultation at your home with one of our engineer. At the consultation, you will be able to discuss the following:

  • Intended use of the rainwater
  • Potential cistern locations and size options
  • Rainwater collection pipe routing
  • Usage options (pressurized vs. non-pressurized)
  • Much, much more

Proposal Creation

For residential rainwater systems, we typically “design” the system as we are formulating the estimate for your installation.  Our estimate documents include:

  • Multiple cistern options (if desired and space available)
  • Complete transparency of costs
  • Rainwater harvesting potential report
  • Cistern / system images
  • List of References

Design & Specifications

If the estimated cost and system design is right for you, then we will send you a contract for the installation work.  At this point, the following items will occur:

  • Schedule your project onto job board
  • Introduce you to our construction manager
  • System plan document created
  • Pre-construction meeting so everyone is on the same page
  • Document any requested changes

Construction Services

At this point, our experienced crew will install the system as planned. Then, we will provide a walk-through to discuss operation and maintenance needs. We pledge the following:

  • Clean up the jobsite each day
  • Our crew members will be well‐trained, courteous, and dress cleanly
  • Our crew will understand the system plan completely
  • Ensure that you are happy with the final product
  • We will be there for any future system needs

Drainage Systems for Residential Projects

Rainwater collection systems can provide auxiliary water and/or potable water supply on residential projects.

  • To supplement or replace municipal water use in the irrigation system
  • To supplement or replace the use of municipal water for indoor, non-potable uses such as toilet flushing
  • To meet local stormwater detention requirements
  • To provide whole-house, drinking water supply

The difficulty is in designing a rainwater harvesting system that can efficiently collect rainwater but ensure that the system can be installed within a certain budget. No matter if your concerns are aesthetics, functionality, or maintenance issues, we have the necessary experience to overcome any obstacles and design a system to fit your need and budget.

Stormwater Management Systems for Commercial Projects

Rainwater collection systems can provide auxiliary water for many different opportunities on commercial projects.

  • To supplement or replace municipal water use in the irrigation system
  • To supplement or replace the use of municipal water for toilet and urinal flushing
  • To supply auxiliary water for internal building processes that do not require a municipally treated water source
  • To supply any ancillary water uses such as vehicle washing, site washing
  • To meet local stormwater detention requirements

The difficulty is in integrating the rainwater harvesting system into your commercial project so that it can efficiently provide the desired result.  No matter if your concerns are aesthetics, functionality, or maintenance issues, we have the necessary experience to overcome any obstacles and creatively integrate the rainwater catchment system into your project.
