Heather Henfrey
Marketing / Service Manager
Heather was born in Austin but grew up overseas. Her first home was Nairobi, Kenya, where she appreciated growing up with diverse friends and ways of life. Having seen people living happily, making the most of what they have without very many resources available to them, fostered an intrinsic value for conservation and environmental stewardship in her.
Returning to the US, she decided to study Environmental Studies at CU Boulder with a specialization in Natural Resource Management. The years she spent in Colorado connected her to urban farming, where she also developed her skills as a sales representative for the micro-green and tomato business. Her passion for conservation and utilizing the genius of nature to improve human’s lives lead her to get her certificate in Permaculture Design, with the aim of helping herself and her community live a low-impact and resilient lifestyle.
Returning to Texas to be closer to her family, she discovered the world of Texas wine and fell in love. This lead her abroad to the vineyards of Australia where utilizing rainwater is common practice due to the harsh conditions and brackish groundwater. Upon returning to Texas, she discovered IWS and is honored to support their mission increasing rainwater capacity in central Texas.
Heather joined the IWS team in April 2025 as the Marketing / Service Manager, supporting the service technicians in troubleshooting and maintaining rainwater systems all over Central Texas, as well as managing our trouble-free maintenance program for potable systems. She enjoys identifying new avenues to promote rainwater in Austin and beyond!
While she isn’t fielding IWS calls, you can find Heather checking out the local wine, food and music scene. When she is at home, she loves organic gardening, cooking, fermentation, and spotting wildlife while walking her dogs.
B.A. in Environmental Studies, CU Boulder, Class of 2011
