How can I find rainwater harvesting system installers outside of Texas?

Being in business since 2004, our name and website has gotten around the interwebs. So we receive requests from all over the United States and we field the occasional request from overseas.

While we would love to assist everyone who wants to potentially install a rainwater harvesting system at their house, we can’t be everywhere.

The American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA) has created a Resource Guide which is a vendor directory that provides an opportunity to search in your local area for any rainwater harvesting system professional.

We wish you luck on your potential rainwater harvesting system project!

More about ARCSA

The mission of ARCSA is to provide resources and information on rainwater and stormwater collection to promote the advancement of rainwater conservation and to work with government at all levels in promoting rainwater and stormwater management.

Their membership consists of professionals working in city, state, and federal government, academia, manufacturers and suppliers of rainwater harvesting equipment, consultants, and other interested individuals.

The ARCSA website did not provide info about designers and product suppliers for Oregon by using their search tool. I did not want to search individual pages of the 235 designers

    Please advise. Thanks.

I think you need to input a city in Oregon in the Location box of the search tool in order to get any results. I tried to just enter “Oregon” into the Location box but I didn’t get any results to return. I entered “Portland, OR” and I got back 5 results.

I tried inputting a city & Oregon after I sent you my concern/? It did not help. I tried more times with just Oregon & eventually I was able to find 3 Portland designers, one equipment supplier & one installer, which was the same as the equipment supplier.

I tried to watch the video about legal info but the volume was too low & I could not find a way to turn up the volume. Today a friend told my wife & I it is illegal to collect rainwater in Oregon if the rain lands on anything, including a roof. I just tried to find an ORS ( Oregon Revised Statute) online but did not find anything. Do you know of one? Thanks.

Bruce, as for the legality of rainwater harvesting in Oregon, it is definitely legal if the rainwater lands on a roof. I think collecting stormwater runoff from land surfaces may get into a bit of a gray area in terms of legality.

Oregon has created a “Smart Guide” from their Building Codes Division about rainwater harvesting. If it wasn’t legal there, I don’t think they would have created this document. Check it out here: https://www.oregon.gov/bcd/Documents/brochures/3660.pdf
