FAQ Post of the Month

Residential Project of the Month

photo-may-21-2025-1-02-39-pm

We installed a 30,000 gallon system for a couple in Dripping Springs who were worried about the longevity of their well. Their new rainwater system not only reduces stress about their properties water security, it also reduces their impact on our aquifers! We love doing projects that help people live sustainably in the hill country. This was a turn-key system: we installed the gutters, built the tank, plumbed and trenched all connections, as well as the pump and filtration system installation.

Commercial Project of the Month

Did you know we also install fire suppression tanks? When proposed developments don’t have infrastructure for city water hydrants, we provide another source of water for fire fighters to use in case of fire. Our tank crew built a 132,000 gallon CorGal water storage tank for just this purpose off Lava Hill Road south of Austin.  A tank this size is 6 tiers tall – which is no easy feat to build!

Water Conservation Tip

It’s that time of year when the weather is cooling down, and we are finally starting to see some rain again! If you irrigate your lawn or garden, remember to make adjustments on automatic watering cycles. If you don’t have a rain sensor that automatically skips cycles after rain events, install one! You can reduce watering times due to lower evapotranspiration rates in cooler weather, or even consider winterizing your irrigation system. We offer winterization services for rainwater systems – call us to book a winterization visit today! Our technicians will drain and protect your pump before the cold weather hits, protecting your investment from freeze damage and costly equipment repairs.

Service Tips

If your rainwater system has a first flush system to divert debris from your cistern, don’t forget – it periodically needs maintenance! The first flush system lets the water drain slowly after a rain event, but, the tiny hole in your weeper nozzle will get clogged with debris from time to time if you don’t maintain it. The first flush should be drained twice a year to make sure it isn’t clogged.  If the first flush can’t drain, you run the risk of it freezing and cracking during extreme weather. You can do this yourself, but remember to be careful because the water in the first flush IS dirty- and if you need help, call us to book a service and we will walk you through this process!

Sustainable Gift Idea

Why not give the gift of rainwater this season? Our Raincache Kit cisterns make the perfect holiday present for the gardener or DIYer in your life. The cisterns range from 250 gallons up to 1500 gallons; you can install it yourself, or let us build it for you! Plants are happier when they are watered with rainwater, and homeowners are happier when they see their water bills go down! Call us today to get the perfect gift and order your raincache kit!
